PORTRAIT SESSION STYLE GUIDE
One of the most common questions I get asked from clients preparing for a session is, "What should we wear?" This page has a few general ideas for you to consider as you start preparing for your session. However, if you have more questions or want specific recommendations - I would love to help, just give me a call or send me an email!
Coordinate Outfits - when I say coordinate, I don't mean everyone wearing matching shirts or the exact same color of tops and/or bottoms. Rather, you'll want to coordinate your outfits based on colors that work well together.
Pattern/Colors - Colors and patterns can really add some interest to your portraits! When deciding on a pattern, choose one that coordinates with the colors the rest of your family/group is wearing. If a member of your family/group is wearing a print, try to avoid putting somebody else in a competing pattern. In terms of texture, variety is always great - lace, denim, corduroy, etc. Avoid all logos, emblems, and graphics on clothing - they really distract from the subject!
Personality - I love to capture people in their most comfortable surroundings, so be sure to wear clothes that make you feel like YOU! Wear clothing that makes you feel comfortable and confident!
Below is a few ideas of specific color combinations that work well together for fall and winter sessions, borrowed from a fellow photographer!
